NEWS RELEASE
*************************** Traffic Services with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are requesting assistance with the following two collisions that they are currently investigating:
The first collision occurred on Wednesday the 24th of August at approximately 8:07 p.m. on Wellington Street East near Trunk Road and involved a vehicle and a cyclist.
A 31-year-old male cyclist crossed the roadway of Wellington Street East in front of the Esso Gas Station directly into the path of a vehicle that was travelling westbound and was struck.
The driver stopped, checked on the cyclist, spoke with him and then left the scene.
The cyclist received minor injuries as a result.
Officers would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle so that they can complete the collision report.

The second collision occurred last evening at approximately 7:01 p.m. on Trunk Road in front of Pino’s Grocers.
A 46-year-old male cyclist was travelling southbound on Trunk Road when he crossed all lanes of traffic and attempted to turn into the driveway at Pino’s when he was struck by a white SUV that was exiting the driveway.
The cyclist received minor injuries as a result.
The driver did assist the cyclist, however officers are looking to complete their report and would like the male driver of the SUV to contact Cst. Poderys at 705-949-6300 or Traffic Services at 705-949-6300 Ext. 348.
